Government
We advised aged care providers regarding exemption from local government rates for 17 aged care facilities across multiple local government areas.
We conducted local court prosecutions for various environmental offences including dumping, development without consent and clearing of native vegetation.
Property
We advised a large regional aged care provider regarding the acquisition of a $20m aged care site following the Royal Commission.
We advised on the $120m joint venture acquisition and regeneration of Hurstville Central Shopping Centre, NSW. It had a total development cost of $1bn AUD.
We advised on the $58m joint venture acquisition and development of a mixed-use, 80 unit development in Burwood, NSW. It had a total development cost of $90m AUD.
We advised on the redevelopment of Union Court and construction of student residence at Australian National University, Canberra. It had a total development cost of $160m AUD.
We advised on the $42m joint venture acquisition by Chinese institutional investor of mixed-use, 450 unit development in Rhodes, NSW. It had a total development cost of $400m.
Environment
We advised a state government infrastructure provider on the acquisition and retirement of biodiversity credits under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.
We advised and represented a local council in the successful resolution of criminal proceedings regarding significant illegal clearing of native vegetation.
We advised the local government regarding a complex and highly contentious land dedication dispute between a local council and a mining authority. The dispute centred around the operation of many overlapping historical consents dating back more than 50 years and how those consents, granted under a different planning regime interacted with and were influenced by mining operations and conditions of mining leases. Acting for the local council Mark assisted with analysing and advocating for an interpretation of the operative consents while at the same time advocating for the local community and local council.
